"Justice for Nifong " in Court Attack
« on: December 11, 2008, 06:55:48 PM »

"Justice for Nifong" is in court against two ancient Nifong political enemies, forner Durham prosecutors,Jim Hardin and Frieda Black. But,interestingly,it has not chosen to attack the Duke Case but rather the much debated  conviction of writer Michael Peterson for the murder of his wife("The Durham Owls Are Not What They Seem" case).Nifong is not documented to have been involved in this case;and,if he had been,it would have been on behalf of the prosecution.
However, the woman who arguably acted as liason woman between  the Mangums and Nifong is a longtime supporter of Michael Peterson(in which case we are not taking any sides) and we early speculated(two years back) that Nifong,if he had won the Duke prosecution, would have repaid her by going in favor of Peterson.
It appears we were correct. But why chose to now open a three-pronged fight with the Nifong and Mangum forces in apparent utter financial disarray? Or are they?

Curious indeed.

Of course, Nifong would shed no tears about going after Black (nor visa-versa, I imagine).

I am a little surprised that "Team Nifong" is also going after Hardin.

But maybe Hardin will be able to pin all the blame on Black?

It's been a long time.Great to see you back ,Neanderthal.
     Here is a fuller report.
       http://www.ncwanted.com/ncwanted_home/story/4109291/

Group files complaint against Peterson prosecutors

A Durham group has filed a complaint with the North Carolina State Bar against two former prosecutors who sent novelist Mike Peterson to prison for life.

The Committee on Justice for Mike Nifong claims former District Attorney Jim Hardin and former Assistant District Attorney Freda Black withheld exculpatory evidence from Peterson's defense attorneys during his 2003 murder trial.

Peterson, who has exhausted all appeals in the case, is serving a life sentence for the Dec. 9, 2001, death of his wife, Kathleen Peterson. She was found dead in a pool of blood at the bottom of a staircase in the couple's home. He has maintained she died in an accidental fall.

Last month, a Virginia attorney filed a motion for a new trial, saying Peterson's attorneys did not know about a tire iron that a neighbor found in his yard and turned over to police. Had they known about, the attorney argued, it could have changed the outcome of the trial.

A murder weapon was never found, but prosecutors argued it could have been a fireplace blow poke seen previously in the couple's home.

Superior Court Judge Orlando Hudson, who presided in the case, has agreed to hear arguments on the matter, but no date has been set.

Black, who is now in private practice, was unaware of the complaint. Hardin, who is now a Superior Court judge, could not be reached for comment.

Gov. Mike Easley appointed Nifong to replace Hardin when he was sworn in as a judge in 2005.
